Nothing is appearing
Work down this list in order. Each step rules out one thing, and the first two solve most cases.
1. Check recent activity in the app
Open More → Auto-capture bank alerts and look at recent activity. This tells you immediately which problem you have:
- Nothing listed at all — no email is reaching Cova. Continue to step 2.
- Listed as "skipped" — forwarding works. The email arrived but wasn't a recognised bank alert. Your bank may not be supported yet; send us the alert.
- Listed as "added" — it worked. Check the date on the transaction; it uses the date in the alert, not the date it arrived.
2. Did your bank actually email you?
Many banks send a push notification instead of, or as well as, an email — and email alerts are often a separate setting. Search your inbox for the bank's address around the time of the transaction. No email means nothing could have been forwarded.
3. Does your filter actually match?
Copy your filter's search text and paste it into the Gmail search bar. If the alert doesn't appear in the results, the filter cannot have fired.
from:([email protected],[email protected]) — is accepted, displays correctly, and matches nothing. Use one filter per bank, or capitalised OR.4. Was the filter created after the email arrived?
Email filters are never retroactive. A filter saved today will not touch anything already in your inbox — Gmail even says so on the filter screen. Forward older alerts manually, once.
5. Check Spam
Providers won't auto-forward anything classified as spam, and filters don't rescue it. If the alert is in Spam, mark it Not spam and add a "never send to spam" rule for that sender.
6. Is it a work email account?
Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 administrators commonly block external auto-forwarding. Nothing on your side or ours can override that — use the personal account your bank alerts go to.
Still stuck?
Send us the alert email (the whole thing, forwarded) and roughly when it arrived. Most of the time it's a sender address we haven't taught Cova to read yet, which is a quick fix.
